Blackberry Harvest Over, Peaches Continue

Blackberry harvest is now over for 2012.  Blackberries started ripening 3 weeks earlier than normal this year, then many days of temperatures over 100 F accelerated ripening so that most berries ripened during a shorter time, so now the harvest season has ended 3 weeks earlier than normal.
Peach harvest continues.  We're now finishing harvesting 'Contender', the 6th of our 9 yellow peach varieties that provide a succession of ripening over 2 months.  We'll still have 'Contender' for sale for the next 4 or 5 days.
Many people have been buying these 20-lb. boxes of 'Contender' peaches.  We'll still have 'Contender' for sale for the next 4 or 5 days.
The next peach variety to ripen is 'Glowingstar'.  I just planted these trees 2 years ago, so this is the first harvest season for 'Glowingstar', and we won't have as many peaches of this variety because the trees are still small.
We'll start harvesting 'Glowingstar' peaches tomorrow.  I just planted these trees 2 years ago, so we won't have too many peaches of this variety for sale this year.
'Carolina Gold', our 8th yellow peach variety, will have a large amount of peaches.  It should be ripe about July 23 to Aug. 10.  We'll also have a second white peach variety, 'China Pearl', ripe about Aug. 1 to Aug. 15, and our last yellow peach variety, 'Autumn Prince', ripe about Aug. 10 to Aug. 22.
We have harvested peaches for sale Mon. to Sat., 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 7 to 9 p.m., and Sun. 7 to 9 p.m. only.  Call ahead to order if you're coming a distance or want more than 20 lbs. of peaches.
