Many 'Enterprise' Apples Ripe

Pick-your-own apple harvest season is in full swing now, and will continue for the next 7 or 8 weeks.  'Enterprise' apples, the main variety ripe now, are sweet-tart with a flavor somewhat like 'Jonathan', crisp and juicy, and keep 6 months in a refrigerator.  They're excellent for fresh eating as well as baking pies, apple crisp, applesauce, etc.  A lot of apple recipes are posted as notes on the Brenda's Berries Facebook page.
Many 'Enterprise' apples are ripe now, and are available for sale harvested and pick-your-own.
This morning a group of kindergartners and preschoolers from Covenant Harvest School in Pittsburg, KS came to pick apples.  They'd been learning about apples at school.  The kids had a lot of fun, each picking apples into their own bags.  Then they had a snack of apple slices, pear slices, and our homemade apple butter on bread.
Kindergartners and preschoolers had fun picking apples today.
Our workers Brandon Ledford and Daniel Rennie got out of school at noon this past Wed., so they came down to help harvest apples.  The three of us harvested over 550 pounds of apples that afternoon.  We have them stored in our cooler, which keeps them at peak condition, and I'm sorting and bagging some more each day, in between picking more fruit, helping customers and delivering apples and pears to local schools.

So we have many harvested apples and pears for sale, and I give taste samples.  We're open for sales and pick-your-own apples Mon.-Sat. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sun. 1 to 6 p.m. However, some weekdays I'm gone for brief periods delivering fruit to schools, so it's best to call 620-597-2450 a day or two ahead, and leave a message on the answering machine saying what day and time you plan to come.
