Pick-Your-Own Apple Harvest Has Started

I've started harvesting 'Enterprise' apples and have some harvested apples for sale, and our pick-your-own apple harvest season has also started.  'Enterprise' apples are sweet-tart with a flavor somewhat like 'Jonathan', crisp and juicy, and keep 6 months in a refrigerator.  They're excellent for fresh eating as well as baking pies, apple crisp, applesauce, etc.  A lot of apple recipes are posted as notes on the Brenda's Berries Facebook page.
'Enterprise' apples ripen over a 7-week period, with some ripe now and more ripening until late Oct.
We still have lots of harvested European pears in our cooler ready for sale, and some Asian pears.  Bill's been making lots of pear preserves and pear compote in the last couple weeks.  We now have 4 different pear products for sale on our homemade jam shelf in the sales building.
Bill's pear preserves taste great on toast, and his pear compote is wonderful on waffles.
From Sept. 1 to Nov. 31, we're open our fall hours: Mon. to Sat. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sun. 1-6 p.m.  I'm out harvesting apples or pears or working on the fruit plantings most of the day, where I can't always see or hear cars come in, so it's best to phone 620-597-2450 a day or two ahead and leave a message to let me know when you're coming, so I can look for you.  Also, I'm gone for short periods some weekdays, delivering pears or later apples to local schools.  If you drop by, ring the bell on the sales building to let me know when you're here.
Our highway sign now has both apples and pears, and the Brenda's Berries board.
