Lots of Asparagus for Sale

With warmer temperatures, I've harvested lots of asparagus in the last couple days.  Several customers have bought some, but I harvest more twice each day, so we still have lots for sale.  I'll keep harvesting asparagus for about the next 7 weeks, so we should still have it for sale until about June 8.
We grow 'Jersey Knight' asparagus, an all-male variety that produces high yields of thicker spears since there are no female plants that spend energy producing berries.  I harvest the spears by snapping them where they break easily, so almost the entire harvested spear is tender and usable.  Asparagus is sold harvested, still for $2.78 per pound + tax.
You do need to phone 620-597-2450 a day ahead and leave a message on our answering machine to order asparagus, saying about how many pounds you want to get, and the day & time you'll come get it.  Our phone rings in our house, so I'll get your message when I come in from working in the orchard.  (I pass my desk at lunch time and mid-afternoon each day, and I'll see the blinking red light on the phone if there's a message.)  State your name and phone number clearly in your message, so I can return your call to confirm. Thanks.
Our apple orchard is in full bloom now, with redbud and crabapple trees blooming along our driveway at rear.  I'm usually pruning apple trees at the south end of the orchard (foreground of this photo), so I can't see or hear vehicles come in if you haven't called a day ahead so I can expect you.
I'm very busy almost all day pruning apple trees, raspberry plants or blackberry plants now, and usually can't see or hear vehicles come in if people just drop by (or if you call on your way here).  We're still open by appointment until May 31.  Our summer hours, shown in the sidebar at left, run from June 1 to Aug. 31, and pick-your-own raspberries should start in early June.
This is the view from our sales building now, with redbud trees and ornamental crabapples that I planted blooming along our driveway.
