Our New Name: Reid Orchards

We changed our name to Reid Orchards from Brenda's Berries & Orchards in Feb. 2024, to reflect our evolving crop offerings.  When we opened for business in 2001, our main crop was pick-your-own thornless blackberries, which we still offer from late June to late July.  We also offered pick-your-own strawberries from 2002 to 2016, and pick-your-own raspberries from 2003 to 2022, but we're now retired from growing strawberries and raspberries for sale.

Our main crops are now pecans, apples, pears, Asian pears, peaches and thornless blackberries.  Almost all these crops grow in orchards, hence our new name.  We now have a new website, Reid Orchards at https://reidorchards.blogspot.com/

Expected sales dates for all our crops for the next 12 months are shown in the left sidebar under Crops Sales Seasons.  That also show which crops we sell harvested, and which crops we sell pick-your-own.  I'll keep this updated, but I'll no longer post new blog posts on this Brenda's Berries & Orchards website.  For photos and info on crops now in season, go to our new website, Reid Orchards at https://reidorchards.blogspot.com/

We only sell crops that we grow, and we sell everything we grow at our retail market here on our farm.  We do not sell wholesale to people who want to resell our crops, nor do we buy produce from others to resell here.

Please note that we take cash or checks for payment, but NO credit cards or debit cards, and no "apps".  We don't use a smart phone, and have no phone line to the sales building.  So please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount of fruit you want to buy.  Thanks.

Still Many Large, Cracked Pecans for Sale

Our thornless blackberry season has now ended, and we have NO peach crop in 2024, due to the March 27 frost.

We do still have many harvested, cracked pecans for sale.  Pecans store well for several months in a fridge, and for over 6 years in a freezer.  We sell cracked pecans in 4-pound bags, which are over 75% pecan kernels and under 25% shell fragments.  Each bag has the equivalent of 6 pounds of in-shell pecans, and when you pick out the pecan kernels, you get 3 pounds or more of nutmeats.  Each bag costs $19.32 + sales tax.

We still have large, cracked pecans in 4-pound bags, so get them while we have them.
We'll have pecans for sale until late Aug. or early Sept. this year.  Each year, many customers want pecans in late Sept. to early Nov., and we're always sold out by then.  The new pecan crop starts in mid-Nov.

We're still open mornings and evenings, Monday to Saturday, until Aug. 31, but we're very busy summer pruning and controlling weeds on all our fruit crops and pecans, and we don't always see or hear vehicles arrive here.  For the rest of the summer, please phone 620-597-2450 a day before you plan to come buy pecans, and leave a message on our answering machine with your name and the day and approximate time you'll arrive here.  That way we can look for you.

I'm working on our fruit plantings all during our open hours now, so ring the bell loudly when you get here.

If you do drop by, ring the bell on the sales building very loudly, so we can hear it at the back of the apple orchards or thornless blackberry planting.  Our phone rings in our house, so we won't get your message if you wait to call until you're driving here.

Revised projected sales dates for all our crops are shown in the updated sidebar at left under Crop Sales Seasons.  That also tells which crops we sell harvested, and which crops we sell pick-your-own.  Note that we'll have harvested apples for sale in early Sept., but pick-your-own apples don't start until late Sept.

As always, we take cash or checks for payment, but NO credit cards or debit cards, and no "apps".  We don't use a smart phone, and have no phone line to the sales building.  So please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount of fruit you want to buy.  Thanks.
