Still Many 'Enterprise' & 'Gold Rush' Apples

We're still open now through May 31 by appointment, which means to phone 620-597-2450 a day or two ahead and leave a message on our landline's answering machine saying your name, when you'll come, and what you want to buy.  You can make an appointment to arrive here between 10 & 11:30 a.m., or between 1:15 & 5:15 p.m., Mon. to Sat.

We still have over 3500 pounds of harvested 'Enterprise' apples, and over 1800 pounds of harvested 'Gold Rush' apples, in large bins stored in our larger cooler.  I sort apples out of those bins all winter and spring, whenever it's too cold to work outside, so we'll have both 'Enterprise' and 'Gold Rush' harvested apples for sale until May or June.  Call ahead to order them, though, so I can have them sorted, cleaned and packed for you when you arrive here.

I've started pruning apple trees and blackberry plants whenever the weather is nice, and we'll have lots of pruning to do on those all spring, plus pruning of pear and peach trees.  When I'm working in the back orchards, I can't always see or hear vehicles drive in, and I don't carry a cell phone with me.  That's why we need you to call a day or so ahead and say the day and about what time you'll come.

'Gold Rush' apples get sweeter & turn bright yellow in cold storage, and keep in top eating condition until Aug.
'Gold Rush' apples have gotten very sweet now that they've been stored for over 3 months in the cooler, as starches have converted into sugars.  'Gold Rush' apples keep well in our cooler or your fridge for 10 months, staying very crisp, juicy and sweet.  'Enterprise' apples keep well in our cooler or your fridge for 6 to 8 months for fresh eating, and months longer for applesauce and baking.

'Enterprise' apples keep well in top eating condition in your fridge until April or May, and are great for applesauce & baking until Aug.
I eat a raw 'Gold Rush' apple every day with my lunch, from January until we sell out of them.  My husband Bill eats a raw 'Enterprise' apple each morning for breakfast.  Both 'Enterprise' and 'Gold Rush' apples are great for baking and cooking too. We also still have small amounts of a few other apple varieties, and I give taste samples to those interested in buying these apples.

We sell #1 harvested apples for $1.42 per pound + sales tax.  We sell #2 (2nds) apples, with cracks or other surface damage, for $1.09 per pound + sales tax.

I pack the #1 fruit directly into 2 bags in each box, which I weigh to 20.0 pounds.  If you get a 20-pound box of apples, the price goes down to $1.37 per pound + sales tax.  So a 20-pound box of apples costs $27.49 + sales tax, and you save $1.00.

We sold out of all pecans for the season in mid-Dec.  We'll have harvested, cracked pecans for sale again starting in mid-Nov. 2023.

For payment, we accept cash and checks (from any state), but NO credit cards or debit cards.  We have no phone line to the sales building, and no card reader.  Please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount you want to buy.  Thanks.
