Still Many Pecans, Some Pears & Cooking Apples

   Hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving day, thanking God for His many blessings.  We'll be closed on Thanksgiving day, but open our Fall Open Hours (shown in the left sidebar) every other day until Dec. 15.

   We still have many harvested, cracked pecans for sale.  We sell cracked pecans in 4-pound bags, which are over 75% pecan kernels and under 25% shell fragments.  Each bag has the equivalent of 6 pounds of in-shell pecans, and when you pick out the pecan kernels, you get 3 pounds or more of nutmeats.  Each bag costs $18.96 + sales tax.

   We grow and sell only pecan varieties that my husband Bill has named, and selections from his pecan breeding program.  All pecans that we sell have large nuts with thin shells and flavorful kernels.

We still have 'Harrow Sweet' pears for sale for the next week or so.

   We still have about 250 pounds of  'Harrow Sweet' pears in our cooler.  These pears are very sweet with a smooth, buttery texture, and are wonderful for baking and fresh eating.  They also make great pie filling, pear sauce or pear butter.  We'll likely sell out of 'Harrow Sweet' pears by Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, so come in the next week if you want to get some.

   For those wanting to make pie filling, applesauce or apple butter, we also have #1 and #2 apples from our bumper 2022 'Enterprise' apple crop, and some 2022 'Sundance' apples.  These 2022 apples have a rich flavor and are ideal for cooking, but not crisp enough for fresh eating.

Both #2 2022 'Enterprise' apples (left) and #2 2022 'Sundance' apples (right) are great for making pies, breads, applesauce & apple butter.

   We sell harvested #1 pears for $1.42 per pound + sales tax.  If you get a 20-pound box with 2 bags of #1 pears, the price goes down to $1.37 per pound.  So a 20-pound box of #1 pears costs $27.49 + sales tax, and you save a dollar.

   Harvested #2 (2nds) apples cost $1.09 per pound + sales tax; a 20-pound box of #2 2022 apples costs $21.80 + sales tax.  We've reduced the price on #1 2022 apples, with no damage, to $1.28 per pound + sales tax, since they are for cooking only.  So a 20-pound box of #1 2022 apples costs $25.59 + sales tax, and you save 3 dollars.

   If you want more than 5 bags of pecans or more than 10 pounds of #2 apples, please phone 620-597-2450 a day ahead and leave a message on our answering machine saying the day and about what time you'll come, and what you want to buy.  Our phone rings in our house, so you'll get our answering machine if you call during our open hours, and we return calls after dark.  We'll answer the phone if you call when we're closed, so please do not call after 10 p.m.or before 7 a.m.  Thanks.

   As always, we take cash or checks for payment, but NO credit cards or debit cards, and no "apps".  We don't use a smart phone, and have no phone line to the sales building.  So please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount of fruit you want to buy.  Thanks.
