Still Many Pears, Some Apples

Many people have come to pick their own apples over the last 2 weeks, and the 'Enterprise' apple crop was greatly reduced by a late April frost, so most 'Enterprise' apples have already been harvested now.  Only a few 'Enterprise' apples are still ripening on the trees for the next couple weeks.

'Gold Rush' apples will start ripening the last week of October, and we'll have pick-your-own 'Gold Rush apples from about Oct. 23 to Nov. 8.  We'll have harvested 'Gold Rush' apples for sale from about Oct. 22 until we sell out, likely in Feb.

I harvest all apples from my apple breeding selections, and will have small amounts of these for sale.  So far these are selling as fast as I'm harvesting them.

Pick-your-own apple prices are $1.00 per pound + sales tax for #1 apples, and $0.79 per pound + sales tax for #2 apples (2nds).

Harvested apples and pears cost $1.39 per pound + sales tax.  We often have some 2nds of these fruits, with small cracks or other surface damage, which cost just $0.93 per pound + sales tax.  We do NOT have large amounts of 2nds fruit this year.

I finished harvesting all Asian pears on Fri. Oct. 8, and sold them all today, Sat. Oct. 9.  So we are now sold out of Asian pears for the season.

We still have over 600 pounds of 'Harrow Sweet' pears in our cooler, and I'm still harvesting them. Many people who taste them are amazed at how good they are.
I'm still harvesting 'Harrow Sweet' and 'Shenandoah' pears for the next few days, and will likely still have these pears for sale until about Oct. 31.  We've already sold over 1000 pounds of 'Harrow Sweet' pears, and still have over 600 pounds in the cooler, plus about 200 pounds of 'Shenandoah' pears.  These both are excellent pears, and I give taste samples.  Come get some before we sell out.

We'll have harvested, cracked pecans for sale starting in mid-Nov.  We have a good pecan crop this year, and anticipate having them for sale until Feb. or March.

Sales dates for all our crops are listed in the sidebar at left under Crop Sales Seasons.  That also tells which crops are sold pick-your-own and which crops are sold harvested.

Our Fall Open Hours run from Sept. 1 until Nov. 30, as shown in the sidebar at left.  Note that we've changed the Fall Open Hours a bit this year. We're open Mon. to Sat. 9 a.m.to 12 noon and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sundays 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. only.  We're closed Sun. mornings for church services (as we are year-round), and closed from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. each day so I can take a lunch break.

During our open hours, I'm usually out harvesting the fruit.  I put a sign up on our sales building by our bell, so ring the bell loudly and I'll hear it and come to the sales building.

Pick-your-own apple customers, please bring some used, clean, non-ripped plastic bags in different colors to pick apples into.  We provide bags for those who don't bring any, but we appreciate it if you bring bags.  Do NOT bring cloth tote bags.  We use plastic bags because that is the best way to store your apples in the fridge for 6 to 7 months, as the plastic keeps moisture in but lets ethylene breathe out.

For payment, we accept cash and checks (from any state), but NO credit cards or debit cards.  We have no phone line to the sales building, and no card reader.  Please bring your checkbook or enough cash to cover the amount you want to buy.  Thanks.
